  • Recruitment of 22 Trainees from Korea and 10 ASEAN Nations

The 7th edition of the ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY2018 by Busan Asian Film School (AFiS) has opened calls for applications.

This ASEAN-ROK cooperation project and filmmaking workshop is co-hosted by the Busan Metropolitan City and the Infocomm Media Development Authority of Singapore, and co-organized by the Busan Film Commission-AFiS, the Singapore Film Commission, the Singapore International Film Festival and the Asian Film Commissions Network (AFCNet), while being sponsored by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF). This program recruits every year trainees, two from each country, for a total of 22 trainees from Korea and the 10 countries of the ASEAN (Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand and the Philippines).

From November 21 to December 4, this year’s FLY2018 will take place in Singapore and will last two weeks. Anyone interested in filmmaking can apply these conditions: born between 1993 and 2002, fluent in English. Applicants must have experience in making at least two short films, documentaries and/or other video works. Also, they must have no experience in previously participating in any of the programs from Busan International Film Festival-Asian Film Academy (AFA). Airfare, accommodation, meals and all types of education expenses will be covered for all the selected trainees.

All the selected trainees will participate in online education pre-production classes for ten weeks and will have a two-week workshop of intensive filmmaking in Singapore. Moreover, two short films produced by the program’s participants will be screened at this year’s Singapore International Film Festival. Registration is available through the official website of AFiS until June 30th.
