- Showbox Animates Sales for DETECTIVE K: SECRET OF THE LIVING DEAD

- Period Action-Comedy Franchise Title Sells in Hong KongShowbox, one of Korea’s main film investors and distributors, had a fruitful few days at the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (Filmart), which took place from March 19-22 on HK Island, running alongside the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF). The company scored several deals on their recent Lunar New Year hit Detective K: Secret of the Living Dead.The third installment in a period detective action-comedy franchise led by
KIM Myung-min and directed byKIM Sok- , the film was sold to iQiyi (China), Movie Cloud (Taiwan), Edko Films (Hong Kong and Macau), Twin (Japan), Viva Communications (the Philippines), CJ E&M HK (Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Thailand) and Emphasis (worldwideyun inflight rights).During its holiday release in Korea in February, the film welcomed 2.44 million viewers (USD 18.39 million). It follows DetectiveK : Secret of Virtuous Widow (2011) and DetectiveK : Secret of the Lost Island (2015).Showbox’s lineup in HK also included a number of other titles, including JUNG Bum-shik ’s horror title GONJIAM: Haunted Asylum, which previously sold to 47 territories ahead of Filmart. Also in their catalog are the upcoming con man film Money with RYU Jun-yeol and YOO Ji-tae and the 70s-set gangland tale WOO Min-ho’s The Drug King with SONG Kang-ho, BAE Doo-naand JO Jung-suk.
