  • MIDNIGHT RUNNERS Director Moves on to Occult Drama LION

  • AHN Sung-ki Signs on, PARK Seo-jun Considers Lead Role

Director Jason KIM will follow up his hit buddy cop action-comedy Midnight Runners (2017) with the occult drama Saja (Korean title). Veteran actor AHN Sung-ki has signed on to appear in the title while Midnight Runners lead PARK Seo-jun is also considering teaming up once more with KIM.

Saja, which will focus on a man who lost his father, is preparing to begin production in the second half of the year.

An actor since the late 1950s, when he appeared in films by KIM Ki-young, AHN Sung-ki was a star throughout the 80s and 90s, featuring in classics such PARK Kwang-su’s Chil-Su And Man-Su (1988). He most recently appeared in KIM Ki-duk’s Human, Space, Time and Human, which had its world premiere last month in the ‘Panorama Special’ section of the Berlin International Film Festival.

A major TV star, PARK Seo-jun played supporting roles in The Beauty Inside (2015) and The Chronicles of Evil (2015) before leading Midnight Runners to box office glory alongside co-star KANG Ha-neul last summer.

KIM helmed a few independent projects, such as the well-received drama Koala (2013), before jumping up to commercial cinema with Midnight Runners, which was distributed by Lotte Entertainment last year, who are also on board to handle the release of Saja. The film banked 5.65 million admissions (USD 40.98 million).
