Will be Fourth Screen to Open Following Korea and Thailand
A Samsung Cinema LED Screen theater will open in Switzerland. Samsung Electronics announced that the Samsung Cinema LED Screen technology they unveiled at CinemaCon in Las Vegas this March will be introduced in Switzerland in early 2018 through Arena Cinemas. Samsung claims that their technology is the world’s first LED cinema screen.
The Samsung Cinema LED Screen venue will open in February through Switzerland’s multiplex company, Arena Cinemas, at their Sihlcity location. Samsung Electronics said, “Through a collaboration with Arena Cinemas and Imaculix AG, we were able to launch Europe’s first Samsung Cinema LED Screen. The 455-inch large screen with around 8.8 million high resolution LEDs will be supported with an optimum surround sound system.” The theater is currently under construction to remove the pre-existing projector and to prepare the space that will optimize the use of the LED screen which will be 10 times brighter than the original projector. Once the Samsung Cinema LED Screen is installed, they will be able to support screenings in 4K resolution with HDR. Edi Stöckli, the owner of Arena Cinemas said, “We are removing the complete furnishings, implementing an innovative seating concept and consequently providing the audience with the ultimate cinematic experience."
With the latest addition, Samsung Cinema LED Screen has been implemented in four theaters. Last July, the first screen was introduced at Seoul’s Lotte Cinema World Tower, and the second opened in September at Busan’s Lotte Cinema Centum City. In October, Samsung Electronics signed with Thailand’s biggest cinema group, Major Cineplex, which is planning to open a Samsung Cinema LED venue at the Paragon Cineplex Theatre in February of 2018.
