Asian Film Market 2017 came to a close on October 17th after four days of successful business meetings. The event began on October 14th and had a total of 1,583 professionals from 45 countries participate and engage in production, investment, imports, exports and publication rights business meetings. This year’s market contained 65 sales booths representing 165 companies from 23 countries. 

Lotte Entertainment screened a 12-minute-long teaser of upcoming fantasy blockbuster Along with the Gods for the first time through Market Screening, which attracted the most number of buyers and completed pre-sales to various countries. CJ Entertainment made a profit selling crime thriller Heart Blackened and family drama My World Only to Asian markets. The distributor Content Panda had sales launching director YANG Woo-suk’s action blockbuster Steel Rain and YEON Sang-ho’s supernatural drama Psychokinesis. M-Line Distribution sold crime action THE OUTLAWS, the current box office topper, to Taiwan, Hong Kong and Philippines, and pre-sold the KIM Hye-soo featured noir A Special Lady to Taiwan. Showbox got the attention of buyers through mystery thriller RV: Resurrected Victims, thriller MEMOIR OF A MURDERER and political drama A Taxi Driver. 

Starting in 1998 and now in its 20th edition,  APM 2017 introduced 28 projects and arranged 654 meetings for international producers and investors. This is the market’s highest number ever. Projects of note that caught especially strong interest among people in the movie industry include Sora by YOON Ga-eun, Doi Boy by Nontawat Numbechapol and The Gospel of the Beast by Sheron Dayoc.
