Dexter Studios to Produce an Action Thriller about North Korea Issues

Based on a Novel with Same Title by JANG Kang-myung

Director KIM Yong-hwa’s Dexter Studios made a contract for the publication rights to produce their next project after Along with the Gods. It is a fiction novel about North Korea after the collapse of KIM’s regime, Our Aspiration is War.

Our Aspiration is War (W/T) is based on the novel of the same title by JANG Kang-myung, journalist-turned writer. The novel centers around North Korea which is mired in chaos as drug rings spread after breakdown of inherited power system from KIM Il-sung, KIM Jong-il to KIM Jong-un. The story is about struggles of two men for three days: JANG Li-cheol, suspicious man from North Korea and KANG Min-joon, Peacekeeping Force to the country.

Author JANG has received attention by depicting young generation’s frustration convincingly in his previous novel Because I Hate Korea while he vividly described disorders in a state of anarchy in Our Aspiration is War. Inside Men’s director WOO Min-ho revealed his impressions of the novel that “This feels like watching a movie mixed with noir and spy thriller.”

Meanwhile, Dexter Studios has signed a contract for the publication rights with WISDOM HOUSE, the publisher of Our Aspiration is War, and decided to work on the screenplay for a 2018 release.
