Bond/360 Picks Up Buddhist Monk Doc in Berlin
Korean documentary
Becoming Who I Was, from director
MOON Chang-yong and
JEON Jin, has been picked up for North American distribution by Bond/360. The distributor will screen the film in New York before rolling it through on a multi-platform release.
The film, which was invited to the Generation Kplus in Berlin International Film Festival, follows the life of Padma Angdu, who is born as a rinpoche and must take on the responsibility to unlock his former self, a high Tibetan monk who lived 1,500 years ago, when he is just six years old.
Bond/360 COO Elizabeth Sheldon described the work as “a charming film that synthesizes both a coming-of-age story, a road trip and a love story between a young master and his guardian.” Sheldon and co-director JEON brokered the deal during the European Film Market, taking place alongside this year’s 67th Berlinale.
Becoming Who I Was went on to pick up the Generation Kplus Grand Prize at the close of this year’s Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday, February 18th.
