  • New Hollywood Project for Korean Star

Claudia KIM, the Korean star who splashed onto the international stage after landing a role in last year’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, has signed on for the upcoming blockbuster adaptation The Dark Tower, based on Stephen King’s series of novels.

Set to hit screens on February 17th next year, The Dark Tower will also feature Idris Elba as Roland Deschain, the main character of the series who is the last in a line of gunslinger knights. Matthew McConaughey appears as his enemy the Man in Black while Tom Taylor is also in the cast as his pattern Jake Chambers.

The film, which is currently in production, is being directed by Nikolaj Arcel, the Danish filmmaker behind The King’s Game (2004) and A Royal Affair (2012), who co-wrote the script with Anders Thomas Jensen, Akiva Goldsman and Jeff Pinkner. Sony is backing the project with investment from Media Rights Capital and plans to build a feature franchise as well as an eventual TV series to accompany it.

KIM is on board to play Arra Champignon, a character who possesses psychic abilities and seems to come from another world. Following her casting in Avengers, KIM recently featured in the cast of the Netflix series Marco Polo and is also in the voice cast of the romantic drama Equals. Earlier this year, KIM also appeared in the local drama series Monster.
