  • OPERATION CHROMITE Ends 4-Month Shoot
  • by Pierce Conran /  Mar 28, 2016
  • Korean War Film Expected to Land in July

Korean War blockbuster Operation Chromite completed its four-month shoot in South Gyeongsang-do Province on March 10th. The Korean summer release features Hollywood star Liam Neeson in a supporting role, who shot his scenes during a trip to the peninsula in January.

Operation Chromite takes its name from a military operation that was carried out during the Korean War by General Douglas MacArthur (Liam Neeson) and eight Korean soldiers led by Navy Lieutenant (played by LEE Jung-jae) to clear the way to carry out the Incheon Landing Operation that proved to be a turning point in the war. The film also features LEE Beom-su (The Beauty Inside, 2015), KIM Sun-a (The Fives, 2013), JUNG Joon-ho (My Boss, My Hero, 2001), PARK Cheol-min (The Pirates, 2014), KIM Byoung-ok (Old Boy, 2003), PARK Sung-woong (Office, 2015) KIM Young-ae (The Attorney, 2013) and MMA fighter CHOO Sung-hoon.

Wielding the megaphone was John H. LEE, who previously directed the melodrama A Moment To Remember (2004) and the Korean War film 71-Into The Fire (2010). Earlier this year during the European Film Market in Berlin, international sales company FINECUT secured deals for the film with Splendid for Germany, Austria and the Benelux, Discovery Film & Video for ex-Yugoslavia and Moviecloud for Taiwan.

The film was financed by CJ Entertainment, produced by TAEWON ENTERTAINMENT and is expected to hit screens in July.
