1,341 Films in the Green Competition Section, from 111 Countries
The 13th edition of
Green Film Festival in Seoul (GFFIS), to be held in May, has received the most submissions of all time in the Green Competition section. The executive office has announced that as many as 1,341 films have been received from 111 countries as of the deadline of February 12th. This is a new record to break last year’s record.
According to the executive office, among the 1,341 submissions, 321 are feature films and 1,020 are short films. In 2014, 1,059 films were received from 97 countries, and in 2015, 1,166 films from 102 countries.
Among this year’s submissions, the biggest participants are Europe and Asia. 44.3% of the whole is from Europe, and 30.3% from Asia, followed by 15% from North America, 5.0% from Latin America, 2.2% from Africa and 1.2% from Oceania. The executive office also announced the genre proportion, where 46.2% of the entire submissions are documentaries, 29.7% feature films, 13.0% animations, 9.8% experimental films and 1.4% other genres.
The finalists for the Green Competition from the 1,341 submissions will be officially announced at the GFFIS press conference in early April. These films are to be screened during this year’s GFFIS, which opens on May 6th.
