  • Special Screening for the 20th Anniversary of Director HONG Sang-soo’s Debut

  • 'Four Masters Special Screening’ of LEE Chang-dong, HONG Sang-soo, PARK Chan-wook and KORE-EDA Hirokazu Will Take Place around the Same Time
     
     
    Special screenings are holding to look back the world of HONG Sang-soo’s works before his 17th upcoming feature film Right Now, Wrong Then on September 24th.
     
    At first, HONG Sang-soo’s Directorial Screening: NOW and THEN will run in cinecube Gwanghwamun and CJ CGV Apgujeong and Seomyeon from September 17th to 30th. Various events including GV (guest visit) and art posters exhibition are also prepared.
     
    Special screening will feature nine films total: Like You Know It All (2009), Hahaha (2010), Oki’s Movie (2010), The Day He Arrives (2011), In Another Country (2012), Nobody’s Daughter Haewon (2013), Our Sunhi (2013), Hill of Freedom (2014) and Right Now, Wrong Then (2015). Above all, Like You Know It All, Hahaha and Oki’s Movie will be screened in the film format.
     
    There are GV events with HONG. GV for Oki’s Movie with the director and film critic NAM Da-eun at cinecube Gwanghwamun on September 21st and another GV for The Day He Arrives with him and film critic HEO Moon-young at CJ CGV Apgujeong on September 22nd will be held.
     
    Golden Leopard awarded at the Locarno International Film Festival Right Now, Wrong Then has GV events as well. GV with HONG and NAM Da-eun at cinecube Gwanghwamun and with the director and journalist JUNG Han-seok at CJ CGV Apgujeong are set on its release date September 24th and 29th respectively.
     
    Besides, nine art posters by PROPAGANDA of his movies will be disclosed. PROPAGANDA has designed posters like The King of Jokgu (2014), MANSHIN: Ten Thousand Spirits (2014) and Old Partner (2009) and it shows its art posters both through online and offline during HONG Sang-soo’s Directorial Screening: NOW and THEN.
     
    Meanwhile, CGV ARTHOUSE has ‘Four Masters Special Screening’ which introduces representative movies of four Koreans’ favorite directors including HONG Sang-soo and more programs. Director LEE Chang-dong, PARK Chan-wook, Japanese director KORE-EDA Hirokazu as well as HONG Sang-soo are constituted as four masters for the event. Starting with LEE Chang-dong’s special screening, movies are releasing one by one at CJ CGV Myeongdong, Apgujeong and Seomyeon.
     
    First, LEE Chang-dong’s special screening begins with ‘Director LEE Chang-dong’s Books in Life’ at CJ CGV Myeongdong. It introduces fifty books that influenced on LEE’s projects. ‘Scenarios and Continuity Exhibition’ of his movies will be displayed for the first time in Korea until November 30th. In addition, LEE’s magnum opus such as Green Fish (1997), A Peppermint Candy (2000), Oasis (2002), Secret Sunshine (2007) and Poetry (2010) are screening at CJ CGVs mentioned above.
     
    In time for the upcoming film Right Now, Wrong Then, HONG Sang-soo’s special screening will show nine movies including Like You Know It All, Hahaha, Oki’s Movie, The Day He Arrives, In Another Country, Nobody’s Daughter Haewon, Our Sunhi and Hill of Freedom.
     
    KORE-EDA Hirokazu’s special screening celebrates publication of his first essay collection ‘Slow as Walking’ (WT) in Korea. KORE-EDA Hirokazu is a representative director of Japan. CJ CGV Myeongdong will play Still walking (2008) with critic LEE Dong-jin’s commentary on September 19th and also feature I Wish (2011) and Like Father, Like Son (2013). 
     
    Lastly, PARK Chan-wook’s special screening exhibits ‘Director PARK Chan-wook’s Books for Life’ at CJ CGV Seomyeon until November 8th, which took place at CJ CGV Myeongdong last August. It contains recommended books by PARK, scenarios and continuity of his major projects. It also shows his masterpieces like Old Boy (2003), Thirst (2009), Sympathy For Lady Vengeance (2005), Stoker (2013) and Joint Security Area / JSA (2000).
