The War Drama Is the First Korean Production to Star High-profile Hollywood Actor
Hollywood action star Liam NEESON will play the role of US Army General Douglas MACARTHUR in Operation Chromite. The Korean production is about a historic military operation that MACARTHUR led during the Korean War in 1950’s.
According to
TAEWON ENTERTAINMENT, the production house of
Operation Chromite, the film tells the story of eight heroic Korean troop members who successfully carried out a covert "X-ray" operation that preceded the Incheon Landing Operation and contributed to shifting the momentum of the Korean War.
"We plan to go into the production process in late September with a production cost of 15 billion won (USD 12.65 million)," said the production house CEO. The promotion event will be held on 15 September, the anniversary of the Incheon Landing. NEESON will soon fly in for the filming of the film that aims to open in the first half of 2016.
Korean actor
LEE Jung-jae (
Assassination), and
HYUN Bin (
The Fatal Encounter) are known as one of the strongest candidates for NEESON’s acting partner. If locked, the role will be the South Korean intelligence unit leader who collaborated with MACARTHUR in the X-ray operation.
NEESON, who originally made successful acting career with dramas such as Schindler's List and Michael Collins, saw his career revival with 2008 action hit Taken.
