Korean cinema has made its way to New Zealand for the 2012 Korean Film Festival, which began on the 12th and will run until December 17th. The event will be hosted by the Korean Cinerama Trust in association with the Korean Embassy.
The fest kicked off with a reception at the Park Road Post Cinema in Wellington, during which PARK Yong-kyu, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, and Michael STEPHENS, Chair of the Korean Cinerama Trust, were in attendance. Following the reception was a screening of the opening film
Masquerade, the second-most popular film of the year in Korea which, to date, has been viewed by over 12 million people.
The remainder of the festival will feature screenings of a range of popular Korean films, including the children’s animation
Leafie, a Hen Into the Wild, the controversial and based on real life courtroom thriller
Unbowed and the enormously popular romantic comedy
All About My Wife. These films will screen at the Paramount Cinema at 25 Courtenay Place in Wellington and are free to the public, one a first-come first-serve basis.
