- Japan Sees Wave of Korean Releases in December
R2B starring JUNG Ji-hoon (Rain) was released on December 1 at Batro 9 in Shinjuku and Cinemart Roppongi in Tokyo, with screenings scheduled across the country until February next year. Director LEE Young-mi’s Secrets, Objects was also screened across Japan with two question and answer sessions with the director at Cinemart Roppongi on December 1. There was also a special session with invited Japanese film professionals.
Director KANG Yi-kwan’s Juvenile Offender, which was given two awards at the Tokyo International Film Festival, had aspecial screening sessions on December 3 to 4 to mark the film’s Tokyo awards. At the Korean Film Night event in Japan, four films, including KANG Hyoung-chul’s Sunny, HWANG Dong-hyuk’s Silenced, PARK Hee-kon’s Insadong Scandal and KIM Ki-duk’s ARIRANG were screened. Director KIM Han-min’s War of the Arrows will also be screened at the Kyoto Historica Film Festival.
