Kase RYO Expresses Desire to Be in a HONG Sangsoo Film

Director HONG Sangsoo and Japanese actor Kase RYO met at Cinemart Shinjuku in Tokyo on November 25th where a special retrospective on HONG was being held. The two met when they took part at a special talk show event titled, 'Four Studies on Relationships'. Kase RYO said, “I saw Virgin Stripped Bare by Her Bachelors over ten years ago, at a friend’s house in New York. I knew when I saw the film that I could put all of my trust in its director,” said the actor.

Kase RYO also expressed his admiration for the acting in HONG’s films, adding that he felt a sense of ecstasy when he was acting naturally in an Abbas KIAROSTAMI film. To this comment, director HONG exclaimed that they would connect well working together.

At the talk show, RYO expressed his strong desire to appear in a film by HONG and the director answered that he was happy to hear this, adding that the two seem to connect well on a human level and that he also wants to work with RYO. Audiences will have to wait and see if RYO will continue in the line of male characters of HONG films, following from KIM Sang-kyung, YU Jun-sang and LEE Sun-kyun.
