Summer 2015 was Korean cinema’s season.
Northern Limit Line was released on June 24th and soon beat
Jurassic World that had been already released, and it also beat
Terminator Genisys, which was released a little later. After one month,
Assassination and
Veteran kept on with the great performance of Korean cinema. For Hollywood blockbusters, it was quite the opposite of the positive sign from
The Avengers: Age of Ultron which attracted 10.49 million viewers at the beginning of the season.
The number of foreign products in the top 10 best box office films this year in Korea is five, and one of them is
Kingsman: The Secret Agents co-produced by Britain and the US.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron reached the 3rd place in the rank which pretty much lived up to its name, but
Mad Max: Fury: Road,
Fast & Furious 7 and
Terminator Genisys got shameful places 11, 12, 13 respectively, quite unlike previous expectations.
Mission: Impossible-Rogue Nation at number 6,
Jurassic World at number 8 and
Inside Out at number 9 attracted 6.12 million, 5.54 million, and 4.96 million viewers respectively. What is odd is the
Ant-Man released on Sept 3rd, which is 2 months later than in the US, has sold 1.8 million admissions as of Sept 11st and is finally showing the power of Hollywood cinema.
