According to Korean Film Council (KOFIC, Chairman KIM Sae-hoon)’s Korea Box office Information System, Whiplash brought in 374,429 audiences over the weekend taking the top spot at the box office. Going into its second week on screen, the film is going strong due to word of mouth and its cumulative count is at 825,167. This is eight days faster than the record Begin Again had set as a music film. After receiving recognition from the Academy Awards, Whiplash is fast at selling tickets. Advance ticket sales rate jumped from 15.27% last week to 23.82% this week, predicting a good performance for the next little while. Many await to see if the music ‘artbuster’ will break records.
