The Maze Runner and
Begin Again ranked first and second at the Korean box office for the second consecutive week. According to the integrated ticket sales network of the
Korean Film Council,
The Maze Runner ran the box-office race as the front runner by drawing 572,055 audiences for the three days of the last weekend of September. The sci-fi action film attracted 1,613,239 viewers while continuing to come in first in the reserved ticket sales standings and box office standings since its release. So far, there has been no film that can beat
The Maze Runner in the Korean box office race.
To be released this week are
Scarlet Innocence, a romance film starring
JUNG Woo-sung,
Whistle Blower starring
PARK Hae-il and
YOO Yeon-seok whose motif is a stem cell scandal and
Slow Video based on dynamic visual acuity. Now,
The Maze Runner is deposed by
Whistle Blower at the reserved ticket sales standings, making
The Maze Runner unlikely to stay first in the next week big budget films will be released.
Begin Again’s rather quiet sensation is continuing. The music-themed film drew 267,727 audiences at 525 theaters, reaching 2,908,571 admissions over the three days.
Old Partner (2009) is the all-time diversity box-office king in Korea. A total of 2,934,400 viewers took in the film.
Begin Again is 26,000 viewers shy of surpassing the record of
Old Partner. It is forecast that
Begin Again will dethrone
Old Partner before the beginning of October since the film is now showing at over 500 screens on average.
