Redhot superstar KIM Soo-hyun, who last appeared in the hit Secretly Greatly (2013), will soon return to the big screen in upcoming thriller Real and now the film has filled out the cast around him. Joining the actor on screen in the directing debut of screenwriter LEE Jeong-sub (Romantic Island, 2008) will be veteran actor LEE Sung-min and new face HAN Ji-eun.

KIM appears in the film as a fixer in the criminal underworld with aspirations of one day running a casino hotel. He works towards this goal until he is approached by a journalist played by LEE Sung-min. HAN has been cast as an actress in the story.

LEE Sung-min is recognizable supporting star in Korean films, recently seen in Big Match (2014) and The Piper (2015), who appears as the lead in next month’s Robot, Sori. Meanwhile, rising star HAN Ji-eun, who has appeared in small parts in such titles as Miss Granny (2014) and The Royal Tailor (2014), and was chosen among 4,200 applicants during auditions that took place over summer.

The production will be financed by Chinese outfit Alibaba Pictures which will also distribute the film in China. KIM’s huge popularity in the Middle Kingdom led to the deal being struck during the 20th Busan International Film Festival in October. Filming will get underway in early January and the budget has been set at USD 7 million.
