You Are My Sunshine to open on 450 screens
Sep 09, 2005
You Are My Sunshine, the latest feature from acclaimed director PARK Jin-pyo (Too Young To Die), is scheduled to receive the largest release ever for a melodrama. After a screening for press members and exhibitors on September 6, CJ Entertainment announced that strong demand for the film would result in it going out on 450 screens, which will be on the same scale as the recent blockbuster hit Welcome to Dongmakgol. Starring JEON Do-yeon andHWANG Jeong-min, the film is structured as a traditional melodrama, but retains a distinctive style in its story of the love between a sex worker and a farmer approaching middle age. The film is produced by noted production house b.o.m. film productions, and is sold internationally by CJ Entertainment. The film is expected to appeal to viewers with its mix of humor and sentiment, together with the distinctive and strongly praised performances of JEON and HWANG. Previously, the Korean melodramas that have received the widest release are this week's opener April Snow on 350 prints, and 2004's A Moment to Remember on 287 prints.
