First Goyang International Children`s Film Festival

Following in the tradition of children's film festivals around the world such as Giffoni in Italy, the first Goyang International Children's Film Festival will be held from August 19-24. A total of 142short and feature-length films are scheduled to be screened at the event, which is the first of its kind in Korea. The GICFF will be headed by festival director Jeong Ji-young (the reknowned director of White Badge and other films). The opening night film will be Norwegian feature The Color of Milk by Ikke Naken, who is well known in her country as a novelist. The festival program will be divided into nine sections in total. Of particular note is a section that will be judged by a jury of children from Korea and Japan, and an additional section made up of short films shot by children. A 16-film competition section will also be judged by a jury chaired by veteran director YOO Hyun-mok. A variety of cash prizes will be awarded to the winning films.
