Daniel HENNEY wins Best New Actor at Shanghai Film Fest

Popular Korean-American model and actor Daniel HENNEY was honored as Best New Actor at the recently concluded Shanghai International Film Festival, held June 16-24. The film he stars in, <Shanghai Calling>, was nominated in seven of the festival’s 12 award categories, eventually winning both HENNEY’s award and a Best Screenwriter prize.
Directed by Daniel HSIA, <Shanghai Calling> is a comedy that traces the trials and tribulations of intercultural romance after a New York City lawyer is transferred to Shanghai. The film also stars Eliza COUPE, Bill PAXTON and Alan RUCK. HENNEY also took home an Outstanding Acting Achievement Award for <Shanghai Calling> at the USA’s 2012 Newport Beach Film Festival.
HENNEY has appeared in a number of Korean and American television series and films, such as <X-Men Origins: Wolverine>. He will next appear in KIM Jee-woon’s English-language feature film debut, <The Last Stand>, which stars Arnold SCHWARZENEGGER
