Xi Apartment Residents to Benefit from CGV Gold Class Cinemas

CJ CGV has partnered with construction company GS E&C to develop community screening spaces for apartment complexes. The first location will open in June next year in the Grand Xi apartment complex in Seocho in Southern Seoul.

CJ CGV announced on November 24 that it had signed a MOU with GS E&C to install a premium theater within the Xi complex. This will be the first community cinema in Korea. A community cinema is a space that showcases cultural content including films in an area that is exclusive to apartment residents.

Customers will be able to enjoy cultural activities in a more familiar environment. CJ CGV plans to present a variety of cultural content, including movies, musicals, operas, classical music, concerts and live sports broadcasts. The community space will also include a CGV Gold Class premium cinema. These areas will offer premium-level screenings to residents at standard theatrical rates.

KIM Gyu-hwa, CEO of GS E&C’s architectural and housing division, stated that, “This MOU, which is a brand collaboration between the Xi brand and CJ CGV, a major multiplex in Korea, will support the diverse cultural and artistic activities of Xi’s residents by providing a new residential community service where resident can enjoy everything in the complex.”

CJ CGV CEO CHOI Byung-Hwan explained: “The know-how of CGV, which has been operating theater platforms for over 20 years, and the technology of GS E&C, a leading construction company in Korea, are expected to create synergy. We will take a step closer to customers by building a community cinema where you can enjoy a more convenient cultural life.”
