Plans to Capitalize on Content Sales and Distribution of Eccho Rights’ IPs

CJ ENM has acquired a majority stake in Scandinavian TV program distribution company Eccho Rights. The details of the purchase have not been made public. Eccho Rights is a TV program distribution company with offices in Stockholm (Sweden), Istanbul (Turkey), Madrid (Spain), Manila (Philippines), but also in Korea. With international distribution rights to over 15,000-hour worth of TV programs, Eccho Rights has been establishing a worldwide network mostly focused on West Europe that is also present in emerging markets such as Russia and India.

CJ ENM aims to capitalize on the catalogue of IPs owned by Eccho Rights to develop its TV format, content sales and distribution businesses. Building upon Eccho Rights’ network, CJ ENM is expected to expand its reach in Europe, Middle East and South America. The two companies will be managed independently.

“With this merger, CJ ENM will consolidate its position on the global market while generating unique value”, said KIM Chul-yeon, Head of CJ ENM’s global business division. She added, “This will allow us to provide unique experiences and pleasure to users around the world thanks to our premium content”. Eccho Rights has recently been managing the rights to Scandinavian series Conspiracy of Silence, Turkish vengeance series Stiletto Vendetta, female-driven Swedish thriller drama Honour, and the Canadian talent show competition Battle of the Blades.
