Don LEE’s Arm Wrestling Comedy CHAMPION Released in Taiwan

CHAMPION Ranks Fourth Most Successful Korean Movie in Taiwan



Warner Bros. Korea arm-wrestling comedy Champion, starring Don LEE, has been riding high on top of the Taiwanese box office. It has become the fourth most watched Korean film by its second week in theaters.

Well known for LEE’s personal involvement in the project, this sports movie follows Mark (Don LEE), a Korean adoptee who fails to become an arm wrestling champion in the United States and decides to try his chance in Korea. In Taiwan, Champion is distributed by SKY FILMS Entertainment and was released on June 15th, earning USD 1.15 million (TWD 35 million) as of June 29th. The movie became the fourth most successful Korean movie in Taiwan, behind, TRAIN TO BUSAN (2016), The Battleship Island (2017) and Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds (2017). 

Meanwhile, Well Go USA is distributing this arm-wrestling comedy in the United States. It has garnered USD 97,000 in the U.S. since its release on May 11th. In Korea, the film has clocked up USD 848 million (KWR 9.47 billion).
