SEGL Acquires Take Pictures, Will Develop THE PRIESTS 2

Spackman Entertainment Group Limited (SEGL) has announced that it will invest KRW 500 million (USD 460,000 million) into the upcoming Korean fantasy melodrama Now I Will Meet You. Starring SON Ye-jin and SO Ji-sub and directed by debut filmmaker LEE Chang-hoon, the film is currently in post-production and will be distributed by Lotte Entertainment next year.

Based on the Japanese novel ‘Be With You’ (2005), SON stars as a woman who dies, only to return for her husband (SO) and son a year later. The film’s budget is KRW 7.8 billion (USD 7.15 million), which includes production costs of KRW 5.5 billion (USD 5.05 million). SON was last seen in the critical darling The Truth Beneath and the period hit The Last Princess, while SO was on screens this summer in RYOO Seung-wan’s blockbuster Battleship Island. Spackman Media Group Limited, an affiliate of SEGL, owns the management companies that represent both actors.

SEGL is one of the leading purveyors of feature films in Korea and owns the top production company Zip Cinema, which in recent years has been responsible for hits such as All About My Wife (2012), Cold Eyes (2013), The Priests (2015) and last year’s Master. They also own Novus Media corp, an active investor in Korean titles, including Secretly Greatly (2013), and recently acquired Take Pictures which currently has a 10-strong production slate, which includes The Priests 2, which will be co-produced with Zip Cinema.
