High-Concept Drama Invited to Golden Horse Film Festival

KWON Oh-kwang’s debut work Collective Invention, which was released just last week in Korea, has secured a theatrical release for neighboring Japan and is set to open there next year. Starring PARK Bo-young and LEE Kwang-soo, the film initially debuted as part of the Vanguard lineup of the Toronto International Film Festival early last month.

In addition to its Japanese acquisition, Collective Invention will also be seen by audiences in Taiwan following news of its invitation to the Wonderland section of next month’s 52nd Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival. Earlier this month, the film also screened in the Open Cinema lineup of the Busan International Film Festival.

In the film, LEE Kwang-soo plays a young man who undergoes clinical trials for a pharmaceutical company only to develop a terrible side effect that is turning him into a fish. The man with the fish head becomes a media sensation in Korea and receives the help of a former lover (PARK Bo-young) and an eager young journalist (LEE Chun-hee) when national attention towards him begins to sour.
