Berlinale Documentary Goes to New York

Fresh off the announcement of its world premiere at next month’s 64th Berlin International Film Festival, where it will screen in the Forum section, Kelvin Kyung-kun PARK’s new documentary A Dream of Iron has been invited to partake in a special program in New York’s famed Museum of Modern Art. The showcase, titled ‘Documentary Fortnight 2014: MoMA’s International Festival of Nonfiction Film and Media,’ will also take place in February, from the 14th to 28th.

PARK’s film, following his 2010 documentary Cheonggyecheon Medley: A Dream of Iron which also screened in Berlin, features a series of arresting visual tableaus taken at the POSCO steel factory on the Southern Korean coast which is the fourth largest of its kind in the world, as it takes us through the process of steel manufacturing to shipbuilding.

The MoMA festival, an annual event which has taken place every February since 2001, seeks to explore the link between modern art and contemporary documentary filmmaking. MoMA’s International Festival of Nonfiction Film and Media will feature 30 programs of features, shorts and installations.
