MASQUERADE Draws over 9 Million

Expected to Reach 10 Million within Days

Audience number for Masquerade totaled 277,515 on 13th October, making the total number for the film 9,089,565. This is 19 days earlier than the record set by The King and the Clown which went over the 9 million mark 50 days after release.

It's been 31 days since Masquerade was released. Masquerade is expected to reach 10 million within days. It's also kept the number one spot at the box office for 5th weekend in a row, surpassing the record set by The Thieves which kept the top spot for four weekends.

To show their gratitude to their fans, the Masquerade team held a special event at the Asem Square, COEX. Director CHOO Chang-min and the main cast of the film dressed in the traditional costume as they did in the film and met their audience.

They greeted their audience in the traditional Korean style and expressed their thanks. Fans lined up seven hours before the event was set to begin. Director CHU said “I had no idea the film was going to be so popular. I'm incredibly happy about its popularity.”

LEE Byung-hun said “Thank you to all those who waited for this film for such a long time. This feels like a miracle.” RYU Seung-ryong said “I'm grateful to director CHU who put an excellent script, good actors and wonderful staff members together to create a meaningful film.” HAN Hyo-joo said “It's an honor just to be here. I'm sure this film will be remembered and loved for a long time.”
