Argentina’s Mar del Plata International Film Festival is screening Korean films <Arirang>, directed by KIM Ki-duk, and <The Yellow Sea>, directed by NA Hong-jin during its 26th edition, Nov. 5 – 13.

Screening in the Panorama – Auteurs section, the documentary Arirang stars the maverick director Kim Ki-duk who shot the film of himself mainly while holing up in a mountain cabin in the woods. The film previously made its world premiere at the Cannes film festival where it won the Un Certain Regard award. Kim’s others films include his most recent <Amen> - which came directly after <Arirang>, <Dream>, <The Isle>, and <Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter… and Spring>.

Seoul-based Finecut handles international sales for <Arirang> as well as <Amen>.

Other films screening in Mar del Plata’s Panorama – Auteurs section are SONO Sion’s two films of the year <Guilty of Romance> and <Himizu>, Johnnie TO’s <Life Without Principle>, Naomi KAWASE’s <Hanezu> and Hitoshi Matsumoto’s <Scabbard Samurai>.

Na Hong-jin’s <The Yellow Sea>, which also screened at Cannes earlier this year, is playing in Mar del Plata’s Midnight Screenings section. The thriller starring HA Jung-woo and KIM Yun-seok follows an ethnic Korean from China who sneaks into South Korea to carry out a hit mission only to find himself hunted in a twisted conspiracy.

Showbox / Mediaplex is the local distributor and sales agent for <The Yellow Sea>.

Other films screening in the Midnight Screamings section include Jonathan Caouette’s <All Flowers in Time>, Panos Cosmatos’ <Beyond the Black Rainbow> and Alex STAPLETON’s <Corman´s World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel>.
