The Korean Film Producers Association announced on the 1st that director Yoon Ga-eun’s ‘The World of Love’ has been selected as the Best Picture winner at the 12th Korean Film Producers Association Awards.

‘The World of Love’ follows the story of 18-year-old high school student Joo-in (played by Seo Su-bin), who becomes the only student not to participate in a school-wide petition opposing the release of a convicted rapist. Afterward, she begins receiving mysterious notes, setting off a tense chain of events.

Producers Gu Jeong-ah and Kim Se-hoon were named Best Picture Producers, and lead actress Seo Su-bin will receive the Best New Actress Award. The Best Director Award goes to Kwak Kyung-taek for ‘The Firefighters’, a film inspired by the 2001 Hongje-dong fire incident.

The Best Actor Award goes to Lee Byung-hun for ‘The Match’ and ‘No Other Choice’, while Lee Hye-young wins Best Actress for ‘The Old Woman With The Knife’.

Lee Byung-hun was praised for delivering “a performance only Lee Byung-hun could achieve,” portraying Go master Cho Hun-hyun in ‘The Match’, and desperate, laid-off father Man-su in ‘No Other Choice’. Lee Hye-young, playing an elderly female killer named “Sculptor” in ‘The Old Woman With The Knife’, was lauded for her commanding charisma that captured both seasoned skill and decline.

Best Supporting Actor goes to Kwon Hae-hyo for ‘Bogotá: City of the Lost’, and Best Supporting Actress goes to Park Ji-hyun for ‘Hidden Face’.

Best Screenplay is awarded to writer Lim Na-mu for ‘People and Meat’.
