Masters and Scene-Stealing Actors Engage Audiences at BIFF

 

Masters of Culture at BIFF Share Films of Their Choice with Audiences

At the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), leading figures from Korea and abroad in the fields of film and culture will present works of their own choosing and share discussions with audiences.


The BIFF Secretariat announced on the 22nd that it will hold a special program titled Carte Blanche.


In this program, prominent cultural figures personally select films, which will be screened and followed by a session where they share experiences and in-depth reflections with the audience.

Participants in this year’s event include director Bong Joon-ho, director Maggie Kang, actor Kang Dong-won, novelist Eun Hee-kyung, and journalist Sohn Suk-hee.


Director Bong Joon-ho selected Shinji Aoyama’s "Eureka", while Maggie Kang, director of "K-Pop Demon Hunters", chose Bong Joon-ho’s "The Host".


Actor Kang Dong-won picked "Jeon Woo-chi", Korea’s first homegrown superhero film in which he starred. Novelist Eun Hee-kyung chose Sho Miyake’s "And Your Bird Can Sing". Journalist Sohn Suk-hee selected Sidney Lumet’s "Dog Day Afternoon".


The 30th Busan International Film Festival will run for ten days from October 17 to 26 in the Haeundae district, centered around the Busan Cinema Center.


Busan International Film Festival to Feature “Scene-Stealer” Actors Engaging with Audiences

At the upcoming BIFF, a program will be held where Korea’s representative “scene-stealer” actors meet audiences and share stories about their performances.

 

The BIFF Secretariat announced on the 21st that it will present Very Candid Scene Stealers: Those Who Stole the Scenes, a program in which six actors speak directly about their works and acting experiences.

 

The participating actors are Hyun Bong-sik, Kim Jae-hwa, Lee Jun-hyuk, Yoon Kyung-ho, Baek Joo-hee, and Lee Sang-hee.

 

Actor Hyun Bong-sik has left strong impressions with intense characters across genres such as "The Match", "Lobby", and "The Deal". Actress Kim Jae-hwa won the Best Actress Award at the 2024 Korean Film Critics Association Awards for "To Her".

 

Actor Lee Jun-hyuk has built a versatile spectrum of performances across both film and TV in works like "Rebound" and "Hitman 2", while actor Yoon Kyung-ho earned both critical and commercial acclaim with "Trauma Center" and "My Daughter is a Zombie".

Actress Baek Joo-hee has moved seamlessly between stage and screen with works such as "Extracurricular" and "Your Honor", while actress Lee Sang-hee won Best Supporting Actress at both the Blue Dragon Film Awards and the Baeksang Arts Awards for "Hopeless".

 

This program is free and open to all festival visitors.
