2022 (50TH) INTERNATIONAL EMMY® AWARDS GALA

Miky Lee, Vice Chair of CJ Group, accepted the International Emmy Directorate Award at the International Emmy Awards 2022 held on November 21 in New York. The award is granted to organizations or individuals who have made outstanding contributions worldwide in the broadcasting industry. This year, it recognizes Vice Chair Miky Lee’s contribution to the Korean culture and media industry as the spearhead leading the K-Wave.

Miky Lee is in a class of her own, a visionary leader who has harnessed her exceptional business acumen and love of her country’s culture by tirelessly spearheading the global phenomenon of the Korean wave for over 25 years”, said Bruce L. Paisner, President and CEO of the International Academy. “The whole world witnessed her commitment to our industry and Korea when she, along with the creators of “PARASITE”, enthusiastically accepted the Oscar for her company’s award-winning film PARASITE, a historic milestone for Korean content.”

Upon receiving the award, Miky Lee said, “I’m truly honored to be awarded on this special occasion. In the 25 years since we started CJ’s Entertainment business, I am grateful to have been the bridge between many talented people and their dreams.” She continued, “I am delighted and proud as a Korean that our content, including PARASITE and Decision to Leave, is being recognized, but I share this joy as part of the greater global community. I have heard from so many that the success of Korean content has given everyone hope that anyone can be part of global pop culture.” Adding on, she remarked, “I will continue on my journey of being the bridge. Let’s march on together and connect more people day by day.”

Miky Lee was the Executive Producer for PARASITE, Korea’s first-ever film to win Best Picture at the Academy Awards and Palme d’Or at the Festival de Cannes, along with Decision to Leave, and Broker, which won Best Director and Best Actor at the Festival de Cannes this year, respectively.
