Founded in 1981 and celebrating its 42nd anniversary this year, the Hawaii International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals in North America for cultural exchanges between North America, Asia, and the Pacific. The Vision in Film Award, awarded to Director Kore-eda Hirokazu, is a special award given to notable accomplished directors or institutions and has been awarded only 6 times in the past 42 years, including Director Lee Ang, Director Zhang Yimou, and the American Film Institute (AFI), etc.
Director Kore-eda Hirokazu said, "I think it will be a precious memory that I will not forget for a long time. I've been working on directing movies for a long time, and I'm glad I finally feel qualified to receive this award. I will continue to work hard.” In addition, the screening of the closing film and Q&A, which took place on November 12, not only sold out all seats but also applause and questions from the participating audience even after the screening, showing the interest of overseas audiences toward Broker.
Broker was officially invited to the 2022 Bergen International Film Festival, the 28th Brisbane International Film Festival, the 17th London Korean Film Festival, and the 32nd Films From the South Film Festival. It was also selected as the closing film at the 44th Nantes Three Continents Festival and will continue special meetings with audiences around the world.
