『The Hollywood Reporter』, an American media specializing in pop culture, announced the list of ‘The 20 Most Powerful Women in Global Entertainment’ in 2022.

Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals, Amazon in India, Karen Thorn-Stone, CEO of Ontario Creates, who manages Ontario's creative industry in Canada, Jane Turton, CEO of All3Media in the UK, and Emiko Iijima, VP Anime Production, Crunchyroll in Japan, etc., have been on the list for the first time this year. The list also included those who promote qualitative development in the entertainment industry, such as Charlotte Moore, Chief Content Officer (CCO) of the BBC in the UJ, and Valerie Creighton, President and CEO of Canada Media Fund in Canada. In addition, Anna Marsh, CEO of StudioCanal in France, and Jennifer Mullen, CEO of Fremantle, a large European production & distribution company, were also notable.

Meanwhile, two Korean female leaders influencing the global entertainment industry beyond Korea were also mentioned. Miky Lee, Vice Chair of CJ Group, was selected again following last year. Referring to CJ's investment in DreamWorks in 1995, 『The Hollywood Reporter』 evaluated that CJ leveraged its access to Hollywood's inner workings back in Korea, ‘building CJ ENM over the ensuing decade into Korea’s most successful movie studio, television studio, and cinema exhibitor.’ The media also added, “Lee has set her sights on even greater global influence, closing a deal for majority control of Hollywood production powerhouse Endeavor Content.” Vice Chair Miky Lee said, “The industry is starting to recognize the creators, not for their gender, but their talent. I am happy to see things moving in the right direction, but we still have ways to go, which is why I plan to continue to dedicate myself to finding new talent and providing opportunities regardless of gender.”

Kim Minyoung, VP of Content for Asian Pacific of Netflix was also included on the list this year. After corporate stints at Twitter, NBCUniversal, and Korean entertainment giant CJ ENM, she joined Netflix in 2016 as ‘one of the company’s very first content executives in Asia.’ 『The Hollywood Reporter』 said that her impact and staying power at the streamer have been ‘singular’ ever since, mentioning that VP Kim Minyoung’s team has made ‘the streamer a prime destination for globally bankable Korean content.’ In the interview, Kim said, “One of the biggest achievements for me is to guide and encourage my team to continue to lean into risk. I’m also really proud of opening up the world to more Korean and Asian content and diversifying our APAC slate in terms of genres and formats.”
