Magnolia Pictures Acquired the North American Rights from Hunt
Global Love Calls are Pouring in, Including the SITGES Film Festival
The film, Hunt, signed the North American rights with Magnolia Pictures and will be released in North America in December. Magnolia Pictures is considered a major company that imported and distributed a number of Korean films in North America, including The Host (2006), Mother (2009), I Saw the Devil (2010), etc. Since its establishment in 2001, the company has discovered various films and presented them to local audiences with an outstanding eye for more than 20 years.
Eamonn Bowles, CEO of Magnolia Pictures, said, “Director Lee Jungjae has conveyed the spectacle charms of the film successfully. The best action sequences that make up the film guarantee full of thrills for the audience,” explaining the reason why they bought the North American rights from Hunt.
Meanwhile, Hunt is enjoying a series of global love calls now. Starting with the official invitation to the Midnight Screenings at the 75th Festival de Cannes, the film has been officially invited to leading overseas film festivals such as the 47th Toronto International Film Festival and the Fantastic Fest 2022 in a row, being recognized for its cinematic quality. In particular, the news says it has been invited to the Orbita section of the 55th SITGES International Fantastic Film Festival, which is considered one of the world's ‘Big 3’ fantastic film festivals, along with the Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival and the Fantasporto in Portugal.
Orbita is a competition section for the thriller, action, and black comedy genre films. It introduces the most notable films of the year and selects the best picture award by audience vote. Among Korean films, The Age of Shadows (2016), Believer (2018), The Spy Gone North (2018) and The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil (2019) were invited to the Orbita section.
