NINE DAYS and 8 Other VR Shorts to Screen at Lotte World Tower
Lotte Cinema is currently hosting the first commercial screenings of VR films in Korea at their flagship Lotte World Tower location, during a three-week showcase that began on January 24 and is set to run until February 14. Spectators can experience a variety of VR content in theaters equipped with Samsung VR devices and smart phones.
The event features nine virtual reality shorts spread out into five different programs.
Patrick KWON’s

SONG Yun-a and
HAN Sang-jin, will screen in its own program.
The ‘Forgotten Story’ section features the animation action shorts Geoje Island: The Third Wire (translated title) and Seonyoogi (Korean title). Fantasy title Future Appetizer and the animation FLY (to the Girl) (translated title) make up the ‘The Meaning of Relationships’ section. The ‘Choices and Truths’ program comprises the documentary Our Footsteps (translated title) and the action film The Chaser (translated title). Finally, the ‘Vostok VR’ section includes the drama Abandon and the human documentary Happy Land 360.
Through this new VR screening event,
Lotte Cinema demonstrates their commitment to new screening technologies. Their Lotte World Cinema location is already home to the SUPER PLEX G, the world’s largest cinema screen, and the SUPER S auditorium, which features the world’s first LED screen.
“This special VR film screening event is an opportunity to reaffirm the film industry’s potential for development,” explained by a representative of
Lotte Cinema. “We plan to procure and develop various contents and, by applying new technologies, to transform the theater into more than a place to simply watch films.”
