Marvel Cinematic Universe Returns to Korea

Following in the footsteps of The Avengers: Age of Ultron, the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise will return to South Korea with the production of their upcoming title Black Panther. The standalone title for the character introduced in last year’s Captain America: Civil War will film in Busan, the second biggest city in Korea and home to the Busan International Film Festival.

Black Panther will stage an elaborate chase scene around several of the city’s major landmarks, including Gwangalli Beach, Gwangan Bridge and the Jagalchi Fish Market.

Local production service company Mr. Romance Film, which will help the team behind the Marvel title on the ground in Busan, revealed that the shoot will include 700 participants and 150 vehicles in the scene, which will depict a chase between the titular hero and the villain of the story. Mr. Romance Film also worked with Marvel on Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as the Netflix TV show Sense8.

Through a statement, the Busan Film Commission stated that they had invited Darrin Prescott, the second unit director of Black Panther, to the city last November for the production to consider it as a location.
Black Panther is being directed by Ryan Coogler, behind Fruitvale Station and Creed and features Chadwick Boseman in the lead role.
