Drama Marks Debut for Director JO Seok-hyeon

Returning to the big screen for the first time since 2011’s Sunny, popular TV actress YOO Ho-jeong has been tapped to star in the upcoming drama Your Name Is Rose (literal title). She will play HONG Jang-mi (also the Korean word for ‘rose’) as she strives to become a singer, from the late 1970s until the present.

Featuring as her ex-boyfriend, as well as a prominent doctor, will be Office star PARK Sung-woong, who reunites with her later in life to help her and her daughter(CHAE Soo-bin). Also on board for the sequences in the present is OH Jeong-se (How to Use Guys with Secret Tips, 2013), while younger performers HA Yeon-soo, LEE Won-geun and CHOI Woo-shik, who broke out following his acclaimed leading role in the indie Set Me Free, which bowed at the Busan International Film Festival in 2014, have been cast to portray the same characters in extensive flashbacks.

Taking the director’s reigns will be first-timer JO Seok-hyun, who previously served as an assistant director on JANG Cheol-soo’s smash hit Secretly Greatly (2013). MCMC, the production company behind Secretly Greatly, is also handling this project. With casting complete, Your Name Is Rose is preparing to go before cameras at the end of the month.
