“PARK Pulled Off Many Extraordinary Feats for Korean Film World”

A memorial service for director PARK Chul-soo, who died on February 19th, was held in the cinematheque at the Korean Film Archive on March 14th. The service was held with a screening of the film A Journey with Korean Masters for reporters. PARK took part in the production of the film but died without seeing its release. The film will premiere on March 21st. “PARK was a truly leading movie director who helped Korean films grow through his own unique and excellent cinematic world,” said LEE Byung-hoon, director of the Korean Film Archive, during the ceremony. “PARK did not stop creating new visual arts despite a lot of difficulties.”
 
LEE Jang-ho, LEE Doo-yong and CHUNG Ji-young, all of whom jointly directed A Journey with Korean Masters took part in the service with other filmmakers and PARK’s bereaved family to pay their tributes. PARK directed many great films such as Woman Requiem, A Pillar of Mist, 301, 302 and Farewell My Darling after entering the Korean film world in 1978. PARK was killed in a traffic accident on his way home after completing the post-production work for Love Conceptually, his posthumous work.
