The Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema, one of the premiere showcases for features from the Far East, is getting ready to unspool again. O Muel’s Jiseul, a big hit during last October's Busan International Film Festival, where it picked up four awards, has been invited to the festival's main competition. This will be the film's third stop in the new year, after it has its international premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and screens at the International Film Festival Rotterdam.

O's hard-hitting Jeju Island massacre feature will play alongside two other Korean films that have been invited to a special section that the festival is staging this year called 'On Asia's Roads.' This sidebar will feature both IM Kwon-taek’s classic pansori film Seopyeonje (1993) and JEON Soo-il's contemplative Himalaya: Where the Wind Dwells (2009) starring CHOI Min-shik.

Well-established in Europe as a discovery ground for Korean cinema, last year Vesoul awarded its Jury and INALCO prizes to JEON Kyu-hwan’s Dance Town (2010). The festival returns with its 19th edition, which will take place from February 5th to 12th.
