4th DMZ International Film Festival Opens
 
 
A week of festival with multinational documentary films and directors opens its a week of festival at Dorasan Station. 4th DMZ International film festival opened its a week of festival, which will be held around Paju Bookcity, Kyounggido, Korea. This year, the festival opens its first night with many of celebrities.
 
 
Kim Mun-su (the Organization head and governor of Kyounggi province), festival director Cho Jae-hyun(who is also an actor), RYU Hyun-kyung, festival’s official ambassador  2AM, the world renowned director Kim Ki-duk and Lee joon-ik, pop artist Nancy Lang, and with many actors includes CHO Min-su, An Sung-ki, Lee Young-ha, Lee Jung-jin.
 
 
 
 
 
The Opening kicked off with the performance of Han Young-ae and Maksim Mrvica. Ms. Han celebrates the festival saying “I hope our souls could be much more vulnerable with great films.” And, Mr. Mrvica also played his work ‘Croatian Rhapsody’, reminiscing the DMZ festival’s implication of War and peace.
 
After fantastic performances by two renowned musicians, the trailers was premiered. The festival director Mr. Cho had been in the official trailer, with having popular Korean liquor, Soju. Spectators enjoyed very much on Mr. Cho’s documentary-like acting himself.
 
One of DMZ Docs’ committee, governor Kim Mun-su made an announcement for official opening of the festival week, conveying the message “We are so honoured to have all guest in this unique place of Dorasan Station. in this late evening. In the DMZ, we are now to open 4th DMZ International film festival, with our dreams and wishes of reunion of divided Korea.
 
 
Also, the official ambassador of the festival, boygroup 2AM came up to stage, and said “Thanks to DMZ Docs, we are able to be here at Dorasan Station which is such a meaningful place for Koreans. We are extremely honoured to be a representative of DMZ Docs. We will try the hardest as we can to spread out the DMZ Docs both in nation and worldwide.”
 
 
 
 
 
Afterwards, the festival director, Cho Jae-hyun, also celebrates the 4th DMZ Docs opening. Mr. Cho has been working hard to promote the DMZ Docs. “I remember our first festival which we had only 30 applicants for 60 volunteers request, so we did make second application to recall more people and barely made it. But, this year, we had 580 applicants for 130 volunteers request. Perhaps the core reason for this significant progress would belied on our idea not to loose the truth of documentary. Also Gyounggi-do has been supported us so much on this particular event, without any regulations to impede the progress. We are now being more plentiful with varieties of documentary from numbers of nations. I wish many of people could come and visit us.”
 
As followed, the festival’s programmer Jung Woo-chung and competitions’ juries were introduced. Then, was the premiere of the opening screen Ping Pong by Hugh Hartford. The director Hugh Hartford and the main character Leice Darcy send the video message with celebration to the festival.
 
This year of 2012, the DMZ Docs opening ceremony hosted 100 public audiences especially, which is meeting the DMZ Docs motto ‘Communication with Public’.
From 22-27, Sep. DMZ Docs arranged 115 documentaries from 37 nations, with inclusion of competition section, Global Vision, and Asian Perspective, Focus: Polish Doc Special.
 
4th DMZ International Film Festival has been shown how the documentary film industry can along with public, with confirming its potentiality. Numbers of significant events with many aspects interests not only documentary people but also many of people.
