The Golden Holiday (2020)
ASEAN-ROK Film Workshop will be broadcast live online from 15:00 to 18:00 on July 28. This event has been designed to establish a network of film exchanges and cooperation in ASEAN countries. The workshop will be held in two categories; the forum and the master class under the theme "Discovering Sustainable Film Exchange & Cooperation Models between Korea and ASEAN in the Post-corona virus Pandemic Era."
At the forum, Producer Jang Sungwon will be the presenter, who produced the film The Golden Holiday, which was produced in the Philippines in 2020. He will share his experiences in overseas location and film co-production, present practical problems and complementary measures, security issues, and the need and role of the ASEAN-ROK Film Organization. Raymond Phathanavirangoon, the second presenter of the forum, is the founder of the SEAFIC LAB (Southeast Asia Fiction Lab, a planning and development lab for independent Southeast Asian art filmmakers. He will present short-term alternatives that Korea and ASEAN can cooperate with after the Pandemic, the future of ASEAN-ROK film cooperation, and the impact of the COVID-19 on the film industry. After the presentation, 11 debaters representing Korea and 10 ASEAN countries will also hold questions and additional discussions at the forum.
In addition, a master class will be held by Lee Dongha, CEO of REDPETER Films Co. Ltd, who topped the box office in ASEAN countries with the films Train to Busan and Peninsula. In the pre-recorded 40 minutes lecture, Lee Dongha will introduce in detail the planning and development, production and post-production of the two films, the behind-the-scenes story of filming, the story of overseas expansion, the special effects and actions, and the birth of the K-zombie genre. The response to the master class, which will also include questions and answers for 20 minutes, is already quite hot. ASEAN filmmakers have already sent a variety of pre-queries about the production design of the film Peninsula, how to direct action scenes, and the know-how for domestic and international box office hits.
