Every Record Broken by AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR by HWANG Hee-yun /  May 15, 2018
Infinite Power of AVENGERS Series

Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War is breaking many box office records. Domestically released on April 25, this superhero flick was set to be as successful as its predecessor, Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), even before its opening. The film sold 1.22 million presale tickets, which accounted for 97.4% of all presale tickets sold for the first time in Korea. As expected, it had the biggest opening day ever. Avengers: Infinity War garnered 980,676 moviegoers on its opening day. This figure is even more impressive, given that Avengers: Age of Ultron welcomed 625,666 audiences on the first day and 10,494,499 in total. It only took six days for Avengers: Infinity War to break the 5-million mark and ten days to reach the 7-million mark, the fastest pace ever for a foreign movie. At this rate, the latest blockbuster from Marvel became the fastest foreign movie to reach the 10-million mark in Korea’s all-time box office. Currently, It has already attracted 10,212,759 moviegoers. There have been so far four foreign movies that have exceeded 10 million moviegoers: Avatar (2009), Interstellar (2014), Frozen (2014) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). All the attention is now on the strength of its performance, as it is a given that it recently joined the list.
