Hit Maker NA Moon-hee of MISS GRANNY and I CAN SPEAK

Some names make our heart warm. One of them is grandmother. She is the one who gives everything with unsparing hands. In Korea, grandmother means greater love than mother and such an image has been captured in movies. The Way Home (2002), a boy teases to bring home fried chicken, even though it is difficult to get in the country, but his grandmother boils chicken soup without losing her temper. This is the love of grandmothers.

Then, how have grandmothers been doing in movies? Actress NA Moon-hee, who played a touching grandmother in the recently released comedy drama I Can Speak, has been a great force at the domestic box office so far. NA also played OH Mal-sun in Miss Granny, one of the most popular grandmother movies in Korea, recording over 8 million moviegoers. In Miss Granny, NA’s character Mal-sun goes off to a photo studio and becomes her 20-year-old self. NA also gives a unique and adorable performance in the role of NA Ok-boon in I Can Speak

Actress YOUN Yuh-jung has transformed into a variety of characters, including some “very Korean” grandmothers in the films Canola and Salut d’Amour. YOON’s movies attracted 480,000 and 1.16 million moviegoers respectively. In Canola, YOON’s character Gae-chun wants to do everything for her granddaughter who she has not met in 12 years while in Salut d’Amour her character Geum-nim is an elderly woman who is still very feminine for her age. Additionally, KIM Su-mi and YOON So-jung who appeared in Late Blossom and also as grandmothers in the smash hit documentary Old Partner are also popular characters.
