Gipeusil, the village where my grandma lives, is changing due to the construction of Yeong-Ju dam, a part of the Four-river project. With about 10 households remaining, it seems like time has stopped for Gipeusil. The villagers continuously rebuild a new life in their dying land as their day to move out is postponed indefinitely, while also saying goodbye to their departing neighbors. I spend time among them and capture the scenes of Gipeusil, which empties out day by day, as well as those of the people’s desolation. As I look at these people and at a village that is slowly sinking into the black waters, I recall a memory which was deeply submerged inside me.less
