On one level, this work is a gripping, complex exploration of the modern science of psychology challenged by the grand narrative of Christian theology. And on another level, it is a moving, yet mystifying, portrayal of the psychological breakdown of a doctor who becomes a patient of Jesus. As the disciplines of psychology and religion are challenged, reality becomes distorted and it's no longer clear if Jesus was murdered or even died...
