Angels land on earth in human form with a simple assignment: escort an old lady to her final resting place. But first they enjoy a drink. The angels sense a long-lost connection with Mi-yeon, the bar-owner. The old lady goes to Sok-chool, the shaman to ask him for a gut, a ritual to mediate between the living and the dead. She may want it for her late husband who appeared to her in a dream or for her son Yong-taek who took his own life. The shaman initially refuses but then agrees to honor the wishes of an old lady in the last days of her life. Everyone gathers to watch the rites. But the gut reveals more than anyone thought. The father of Mi-yeon's child is one of the villagers who raped Mi-yeon. Yong-taek had killed himself because of the guilt that he felt that he could not protect his lover Mi-yeon. One of the angels, who, under orders, returned to this world in the guise of Yong-taek, feels compassion for Mi-yeon and wonders if he actually was Yong-taek in his past life. He begins to want to stay in the world of mortal beings.
