Sun-nyeo is a wife of a fisher Il-yul living in the landlord Ji's house. She gets involved in a rumour of a scandal and women in the village make her a sacrifice at an invocation ritual for Duk-jung who drowned in the sea without a chance to defend herself. Il-yul strangles Ji out of suspicion and jealousy and throws him in the sea. Sun-nyeo also jumps into the water naked as though she wants to remove the bondage of misunderstanding.
