Heewon Entertainment is a production studio founded in 1992 that specializes in 2D animation. Having supplied in-between animation on many popular Japanese anime series such as <Naruto>, <Crayon Shin-chan>, and <Full Metal Panic!>, the company made its name co-producing several seasons of the Beyblade series with Korean toy manufacturer Sonokong and Japan-based studio d-rights. Heewon then made the right bet by pitching to MBC an animation spin-off from the phenomenal hit TV series <Jewel in the Palace> (2003-2004). Despite initial doubts from some within the industry about the commercial viability of an animation set in a traditional background, <Jang Geum’s Dream> (2005) was met with success and was exported to many countries in Asia, propelling the studio to the forefront of the Korean animation industry. In 2007, it joined hands with Japanese broadcaster NHK to co-produce <Element Hunters> (2009). Since 2015, it has mostly been producing series and films for Sonokong based on their toy line Turning Mecard.
